No-exam life insurance
The standards for accelerated underwriting, how the process works, and what takes place if you do not qualify.
Several carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants within specified age and amount brackets, they decide based on your application, pharmaceutical record, driving history, and other records rather than requiring a physical check. Determinations can happen within hours. Each quote on this site identifies whether an exam is expected, possible, or not needed for the product.
What it changes
Fast underwriting is not the same as no underwriting. The carrier verifies your answers, and a policy given on untrue answers may be challengeable in the first two years. If the carrier's information raises concerns, it may request an exam or lab work; at that point you determine whether to move forward.
Who tends to qualify
Typically those under roughly 60 buying coverage up to the carrier's accelerated cap, with no significant health issues and no tobacco use in the prior year. Many carriers accept results from a recent doctor's visit with bloodwork instead of an exam.
An exam, when required, is typically a 20- to 30-minute session with a paramedical examiner at your Corona home or workplace, at zero charge to you. A clean exam result can improve your rate tier for healthy applicants, so an exam is not always bad news.
